Typing Practice

Choose what to practice, set an accuracy goal, and repeat the keys that slow you down.

No account. No saved history. Your drills and custom text stay in this tab. The clock starts with your first typed character.

Drill ready. Aim for 95% accuracy. The clock starts with your first typed character.

Typing practice built around repetition, not one score.

Typing Practice is a browser-based training workspace for improving accuracy and speed through repeatable drills. Pick common words, sentences, numbers and punctuation, a small set of focus letters, or your own text. Set an accuracy target, type for the selected time, then use the missed-key review to decide what to repeat.

Choose a specific drill

Common Words builds rhythm, Sentences adds capitalization and punctuation, Numbers & Punctuation changes hand movement, Focused Keys emphasizes up to five letters, and Custom Text lets you practice material you supply.

Make accuracy the constraint

The goal selector gives each round a clear target: 90%, 95%, 98%, or 100%. WPM remains visible, but a round only meets its chosen accuracy goal when correct attempts reach that threshold.

Repeat what caused misses

After each round, the app shows the expected keys and nearby character pairs associated with mistakes. If the misses include letters, one action turns them into the next Focused Keys drill.

How the practice metrics work

WPM = (final correctly matched characters ÷ 5) ÷ elapsed minutes
Raw WPM = (all printable character attempts ÷ 5) ÷ elapsed minutes
Accuracy = correct printable attempts ÷ all printable attempts × 100

Backspace can repair the visible drill, but it does not erase the earlier wrong attempt from accuracy or raw WPM. The correct-streak counter also resets when you make a mistake or use Backspace, so it describes uninterrupted clean input rather than a repaired final line.

Practice versus a typing speed test

This app is for training and repetition. If you want a cleaner benchmark after practicing, use the separate Typing Speed Test. Keeping practice and testing separate avoids turning every drill into a high-score attempt.

Custom text stays local

Custom Text accepts material in the setup field and repeats the normalized text as needed for the selected practice time. The app does not save that text, upload it, or create a history. Refreshing or leaving the page can discard it.

Limits and boundaries

The built-in drills use English-language words and sentences. Focused Keys accepts letters a–z. Browser timing, input methods, accessibility software, and device performance can affect interaction timing. Results are practice feedback, not a certification, employment assessment, or hardware diagnosis.

Read the typing practice guide for a simple accuracy-first routine and examples of when to repeat or change a drill.

Should I practice speed or accuracy first?

Use the accuracy target as the constraint. A slightly slower round with cleaner input gives you a more stable movement pattern to repeat. Once the same drill stays accurate, increase pace naturally rather than forcing it.

Can I practice my own text?

Yes. Choose Custom Text and provide at least 40 characters. The setup field can accept paste. Paste remains blocked inside the actual typing area so the round measures typed input.

Are my drills or results saved?

No. The app keeps the active drill, custom text, mistakes, and result in the current page only. It does not create an account or app-owned practice history.
