Weekly punch ledger

Time Card Calculator

Calculate weekly work time from clock-in and clock-out punches. Subtract one optional lunch interval per day, handle overnight shifts, and see exact hours and minutes plus decimal hours.

Punches stay in this browser page. This app calculates entered time; it does not determine payroll, wages, or legal overtime.

Weekly punches

Enter both Clock in and Clock out for each worked day. Lunch is optional, but Lunch out and Lunch in must be entered together.

Monday—

Tuesday—

Wednesday—

Thursday—

Friday—

Saturday—

Sunday—

Planning threshold optional

Split the weekly total at a time threshold for planning. This does not determine legal overtime.

How the Time Card Calculator works

The app converts each punch to an exact minute position, subtracts the lunch interval you enter, and adds valid worked days into one weekly total. It does not apply payroll or employment-law rules.

worked minutes = adjusted Clock out − Clock in − entered lunch minutesweekly minutes = sum of valid worked daysdecimal hours = weekly minutes ÷ 60

Lunch must be a complete pair

Enter both Lunch out and Lunch in, or leave both blank. A lunch interval must sit entirely inside that day's work span. The calculator subtracts the interval you enter; it does not decide whether that time is legally compensable.

Overnight shifts

If Clock out is earlier than Clock in, the app treats Clock out as occurring on the next day. Internally that means moving the end time forward by 1,440 minutes before calculating the span.

Decimal hours

Hours and minutes remain the exact time result. Decimal hours are a second representation: 7h 30m is 7.50 hours, not 7.30 hours.

Worked time card examples

8h 00m08:30–17:00 with lunch 12:30–13:00.
7h 30m22:00–06:00 with lunch 02:00–02:30 on the overnight shift.
40h 00mFive days of 09:00–17:30 with a 30-minute lunch each day.

Planning threshold, not overtime law

The optional threshold splits entered time into “up to” and “above” the threshold. It does not determine overtime eligibility, overtime rates, or whether a meal period should be paid.

Common input mistakes

  • Entering only one work punch.
  • Entering only one lunch punch.
  • Putting lunch outside the work span.
  • Using identical Clock in and Clock out times without dates.

Private by design

Punches stay in page memory. This version does not save time cards to browser work storage or send punch values to a Mycelgrid calculation API. Copy, CSV, and print are explicit local outputs you control.

For U.S. work-time context, see the U.S. Department of Labor hours-worked guidance and overtime overview. Rules depend on applicable law and facts; this calculator only performs entered-time arithmetic.
