About Text Compare

Text Compare helps writers, editors and developers inspect additions and removals in drafts, lists and code snippets. Two source inputs stay available while a separate result shows the comparison.

One focused job

The app aligns logical lines, adds word-level detail where a group fits the detail limits, and makes its case and spacing options explicit. It supplies readable views and useful local reports. It does not rewrite text, execute code, calculate semantic similarity, or certify originality.

Your texts stay in your browser

Text and accepted TXT/Markdown files are compared locally in a browser worker. Work stays in this page's memory, with no automatic saving or transfer to another app. A download contains the texts you choose to include by exporting the comparison.

Part of the Mycelgrid ecosystem

Open-source method

The local alignment component is jsdiff (npm diff) 9.0.0, provided under BSD-3-Clause. Its license and copyright notice are included. The app's comparison rules and source mapping are described in the manual.
