SPACE BAR CLICK TEST / MANUAL
Space Bar Click Test Manual
Space Bar Click Test measures distinct Space-key presses during a fixed duration and also provides an untimed Free Counter. The app runs locally in your browser without an account or saved score history.
Choose a mode
Speed Test measures 1, 5, 10, 30, or 60 seconds. Free Counter keeps counting until you stop it.
Start the test
Focus the large SPACE pad. On a physical keyboard, the first valid Space keydown starts timing and counts as press one. On a touch device, the first touch or pen press on the pad does the same. Mouse clicks focus the pad but do not count.
Held-key protection
The engine ignores browser key-repeat events and requires a key release before the next keyboard Space press can count. This prevents one held key from inflating the result.
Score formulas
Free Counter CPS = accepted presses ÷ elapsed seconds
Peak 1-second burst is the greatest number of accepted presses inside any rolling 1,000 ms window.
Input-method lock
The first accepted input locks the run to Keyboard or Touch. Reset before switching methods. Results state the method explicitly because a touch tap and a mechanical Space key are different test conditions.
Background tabs and focus
A fixed Speed Test is not paused when the window loses focus. The exact deadline remains start time plus the chosen duration. If the page regains focus after the deadline, the result closes at that deadline.
Copy result
Copy result writes a plain-text summary to the Clipboard API when available. If clipboard access is unavailable, the app exposes a local textarea so you can copy the same summary manually.
Privacy
The app does not save scores, create an account, or use app-owned localStorage, sessionStorage, IndexedDB, cookies, analytics events, or remote scoring requests.
