BUSINESS DOCUMENT GUIDE
How to Make a Receipt
A receipt records a payment that has already occurred. A clear receipt identifies who received the payment, what was paid for, when it was paid and the total received.
Gather the information first
Have the business details, payment date, your receipt number, paid products or services, and any payment method or reference that belongs on the document.
Choose a receipt number and payment date
Use the numbering system your business actually follows. Receipt Generator does not create a hidden numbering sequence or accounting ledger.
Identify the issuer and optional customer
Make it clear who issued the receipt. Add customer details only when they are useful or required for the transaction.
Describe the paid items
List each product or service with quantity and rate. Clear line descriptions help the payer understand what the receipt covers.
Calculate subtotal, discount, tax and Total paid
Receipt Generator rounds each line amount to the selected currency precision, adds the subtotal, applies the receipt-level discount, then calculates the optional tax percentage on the discounted subtotal.
Record payment details carefully
Payment method can be a simple label such as cash, card or bank transfer. Payment reference can hold a non-sensitive reference you are authorized to record. The app does not verify a transaction.
Receipt vs invoice and quote
A quote is proposed pricing before acceptance, an invoice requests payment, and a receipt documents payment after it has been received.
Review compliance separately
The app performs the arithmetic you request; it does not determine whether tax applies or guarantee that the receipt satisfies jurisdiction-specific tax, legal or recordkeeping requirements.
Worked example
Two brand-consultation units at $150 plus one $75 setup package produce a $375 subtotal. A 10% discount reduces that to $337.50. An 8.25% tax produces $27.84 after currency rounding, for $365.34 Total paid.
Keep a copy
Use Print / Save as PDF before leaving the page. The app does not persist receipt history.
