Why the pace is adjustable
There is no single reading or speaking speed that describes every person, language or task. The reading default is a reference point for adult English silent nonfiction, while speaking uses a separate planning assumption. Both values are editable.
Method boundary
The app uses a simple, inspectable formula rather than an AI prediction. It does not measure comprehension, diagnose reading ability or claim to know how quickly a specific person will finish.
