Drywall Calculator Manual

Use this manual to prepare accurate inputs and interpret the material estimate without treating it as a cutting or installation plan.

1. Measure the job

The default room asks for length, width and wall height. Select walls, ceiling or both. Add more rooms, individual walls or known areas using Add room / wall / area. Quantities repeat the selected section.

2. Choose measurement units

Use feet and square feet, or meters and square meters. Changing the system converts existing entered measurement values. Standard sheet sizes remain labeled by their nominal feet-based dimensions.

3. Add measured openings

Enter the real width and height of each door or window, choose the owning room or wall, and provide quantity. Use the deduction switch to subtract these areas from walls. Openings exceeding the owning wall area are rejected; ceilings are never reduced by wall openings.

4. Choose panels and waste

Compare 4 × 8, 4 × 9, 4 × 10 and 4 × 12 ft panels or enter custom dimensions. Set an adjustable waste percentage; the default 10% is an illustrative starting assumption, not a universal recommendation.

5. Calculate and review

Select Calculate. The result includes walls, ceilings, deducted openings, net coverage, waste contribution, whole-sheet quantity, independent-section count and sheet-size comparison. Changed inputs invalidate the old result until you calculate again.

6. Copy, CSV and PDF

Use Copy to copy the current summary, Download CSV to save a spreadsheet-readable file, or Print / Save PDF with your browser's print dialog. The output contains assumptions and a per-area breakdown. No automatic local or cloud save is performed.

What this tool does not do

No optimized cutting layout, labor pricing, thickness selection, fire-rated assembly advice, structural guidance, tape/compound quantity, or code-compliance certification. Read the relevant manufacturer's installation instructions before purchase or installation.
