About Drywall Calculator
Mycelgrid's Drywall Calculator estimates nominal drywall sheets needed to cover wall, ceiling or measured project areas. It uses transparent geometry and explicit assumptions, including openings, waste, sheet size and whole-sheet rounding.
Calculation method
Wall area is based on measured dimensions. Net coverage equals gross walls plus selected ceiling area minus applied measured wall openings. Waste increases that net area by the percentage you enter. The area-based sheet estimate is rounded up to a whole number.
Source and limitation boundaries
Material estimates are planning aids, not finished cutting diagrams. Sheet dimensions are nominal and product availability varies. Installation methods, fasteners, panel thickness and rated assemblies must follow appropriate manufacturer and project requirements.

Drywall Calculator processes room dimensions, wall and ceiling areas, measured openings, sheet sizes, waste allowances, optional user-entered prices, and calculated results only in this browser page. It does not upload project data or maintain an app-owned project history, account, cloud copy, or recovery service. Copy, CSV, and print actions occur only when you choose them.
Results are area-based drywall-sheet purchase estimates, not optimized cutting plans or installation certifications. Board selection, spacing, fasteners, fire-rated and moisture-rated assemblies, product availability, prices, tax, labor, and delivery must be reviewed separately using the appropriate manufacturer and project requirements.
