SPEAKER & HEADPHONE TEST / MANUAL
Speaker & Headphone Test Manual
Use this app to play short browser-generated stereo test sounds through the current system/default output.
Start with volume low
Lower the device or system volume before the first test, then raise it gradually only if needed. The in-page slider changes relative digital gain and does not measure acoustic loudness.
Play the left channel
Select Play left. A 440 Hz sine tone is sent to the left stereo channel for about 1.2 seconds.
Play both channels
Select Play both. The same tone is centered so the browser sends it to both stereo channels.
Play the right channel
Select Play right. The tone is sent to the right stereo channel for about 1.2 seconds.
Run the stereo sweep
Stereo sweep moves the tone from left to center to right, back through center, and to left over four seconds. The position indicator follows the same plan unless reduced-motion preferences simplify the visual movement.
Stop sound
Select Stop sound to terminate the active test. Starting a new test also stops the previous test before the new sound begins.
Change relative app volume
Use the slider before a test to choose a relative browser-generated signal level from 5% to 35%. This is not a calibrated dB SPL control.
If the channels seem wrong
Check whether headphones are reversed, whether a cable or adapter changes routing, whether system balance is centered, and whether the intended output device is selected in the operating system.
