CLICK COUNTER / GUIDE

How Click Counting Works

An online click counter is a digital tally: each accepted count action changes a running integer rather than measuring elapsed time or speed.

One accepted action, one count

The primary surface accepts mouse, pen, and touch primary-pointer input. With keyboard focus on the same surface, Space or Enter adds one. Held key repeats are rejected.

Why the count cannot go below zero

A tally represents how many currently counted items or events remain in the total. Subtract at zero is therefore a no-op instead of creating a negative count.

Undo versus subtract

Subtract deliberately changes the current tally by one. Undo instead restores the exact count that existed before the most recent successful change. If you reset 37 to zero, Undo restores 37 rather than adding one.

Why Reset can be undone

Reset is treated as a normal successful mutation when the count is nonzero. The previous total is kept in the page-memory undo stack, so an accidental reset can be recovered immediately.

Untimed tally versus CPS

Click Counter does not use a clock. A CPS test measures clicks per second over a fixed duration; a click counter simply keeps a total until you correct or reset it.

Page-memory privacy

The current tally and undo history are not written to browser persistence or sent to a server by the app. That also means refresh or close can discard them.

Large-number behavior

The counter uses JavaScript safe integers. If the maximum safe integer is ever reached, additional increments stop instead of silently creating an imprecise value.
