Slope Calculator
Slope Calculator Manual
Use two coordinate points to calculate exact slope, line equations, percent grade, angle from horizontal, worked steps, and a graph.
Enter Point 1 and Point 2
Each coordinate accepts a signed integer, an ordinary decimal, or a simple fraction such as 1/2 or -3/4. The points must be different.
Calculate the slope
Select Calculate. The calculator finds Δy and Δx exactly, then uses slope = Δy ÷ Δx. Vertical lines are handled explicitly instead of producing Infinity.
Read exact and decimal results
The exact fraction is authoritative. A decimal value is also shown for convenience and is marked approximate when it repeats.
Line equations
Nonvertical results include y-intercept, slope-intercept form, and point-slope form anchored at Point 1. A vertical result shows x = constant instead.
Percent grade and angle
Percent grade equals slope × 100. Angle from horizontal uses arctangent and is signed for positive or negative slopes. Use compatible x/y units before interpreting these as physical grade or angle.
The graph
The square SVG graph uses equal x/y scaling, plots both points, extends the line to the visible bounds, and shows rise/run helpers when both changes are nonzero.
Changing an input
After a successful calculation, changing any coordinate marks the old result stale and disables Copy, CSV, and Print until you calculate again.
Copy, CSV, and Print / Save PDF
Copy result creates a text summary. CSV exports one deterministic result row. Print / Save PDF includes the current inputs, results, equations, steps, and graph.
