Reaction Time Test Manual

Reaction Time Test measures a simple visual response in milliseconds across five valid rounds. The session stays in this browser page.

Start a round

Select Start test. The response pad changes to WAIT for a randomized 1.5–4.5 second delay. Do not respond until the pad clearly says NOW.

Respond to NOW

Use the primary mouse button, pen, touch, or the Space/Enter key while the pad is focused. The first valid post-cue response locks the entire session to that input class.

False starts

A supported response during WAIT is a false start. It does not create a reaction-time value and does not consume one of the five valid rounds.

Complete five valid rounds

After each valid response, select Next round. When five valid measurements are complete, the app reports median, average, best, slowest, the five attempts, false starts, and input method.

Focus and background tabs

If the page becomes hidden or loses focus during WAIT or NOW, that active round is cancelled without a score. Restart the same round so background throttling is not presented as human reaction time.

Copy result

Copy result uses the browser Clipboard API only after you choose it. If clipboard access is unavailable, the app reveals a readonly text field for manual copying.

Reset

Reset clears all attempts, false starts, input locking, and the active round.
