GPA Calculator manual
Enter course grades and credits, match the grade scale to your institution, and optionally combine the semester with a prior cumulative GPA.
1. Add courses
Each active row needs a grade and credits. Course names are optional and exist only to help you recognize rows in the current tab. Fully blank rows are ignored; partly completed rows are highlighted rather than silently omitted.
2. Choose the grade treatment
Select a letter grade or Excluded / no GPA. An excluded row can keep its credits for context, but those credits and its grade do not enter the GPA numerator or denominator. Use that option only when it matches your institution's policy.
3. Match the grade scale
The app starts with an editable 4.0 reference scale. Open Grade scale to inspect or change every grade-point value. Schools differ on A+, plus/minus grades, pass/fail work, repeats, transfer work, and rounding; the default is not an official policy for your school.
4. Optional cumulative GPA
Enter both Current cumulative GPA and Completed GPA credits to estimate an updated cumulative GPA. Leave both blank for a semester-only result. The prior GPA must fit within the highest grade-point value currently configured in the scale.
5. Read the results
Semester GPA is the credit-weighted result for GPA-counted courses in the current rows. GPA-counted credits form the denominator. Quality points are grade points multiplied by credits. Cumulative GPA appears only when the prior pair is complete and valid.
6. Copy and reset
Copy result includes the GPA totals and a grade-scale note, but does not include optional course names. If clipboard access is unavailable, a selectable plain-text fallback appears. Reset clears the current tab after confirmation when meaningful work exists.
Limits
The app supports up to 50 course rows. Course credits can be greater than 0 through 99 with up to three decimal places. Completed GPA credits can be greater than 0 through 10,000. The calculator does not implement school-specific repeat, forgiveness, transfer, weighted-high-school, target-GPA, or class-rank rules.
