Local by design. Clear about the data.
This policy explains what Mycelgrid Chat Checkpoint handles when you capture a conversation, why it handles it, where it remains, and what the extension does not send.
The extension works for you in your browser.
Mycelgrid Chat Checkpoint lets you capture the active ChatGPT conversation and create local files for review, backup, and continuity. It does not require a Mycelgrid account, and the current Free candidate does not upload captured conversation data to Mycelgrid.
This extension-specific policy describes the extension itself. Visiting Mycelgrid.com is separately covered by the general Mycelgrid Privacy Policy, including any website hosting, security, analytics, cookie, or advertising practices disclosed there.
Includes conversation text and code. Files, images, and interactive artifacts are not included.
What the extension processes.
When you explicitly start a capture, Chat Checkpoint processes information available from the active ChatGPT conversation page. Depending on the conversation, that information may contain personal, confidential, professional, medical, financial, or other sensitive material that you or the AI placed in the conversation.
User messages, assistant Responses, and code displayed as conversation text.
The active conversation page title and URL used to identify the local capture.
Message counts, Response counts, progress, timing, gaps, and Review Needed information.
Notes, titles, selections, or continuation instructions you add inside the extension.
Chrome Web Store data categories
Chrome may classify this local handling as website content, web history or browsing activity because the source URL is retained, personal communications, and user-generated content. Local processing still counts as data handling under Chrome Web Store policy.
Why the information is handled.
The extension uses captured information only to perform the functions you request:
- Move through and capture the active conversation.
- Verify late-loading assistant Responses and identify uncertainty.
- Show capture status, counts, and review information.
- Resume interrupted capture progress when available.
- Create local Markdown, JSON, text, Checkpoint, continuation, or ZIP downloads offered by your installed version.
Where information remains.
Capture progress, verification status, and the latest capture remain in Chrome’s local extension storage so the extension can resume and present the result.
Files remain wherever you choose to save them. Mycelgrid does not control, synchronize, or delete those files.
Replace or discard the retained capture in the extension, clear the extension’s local data in Chrome, or uninstall the extension. Delete downloaded files through your device or storage provider.
The current Free candidate has no Mycelgrid server retention period for captured conversations because the extension does not send those captures to Mycelgrid.
What the extension does not transmit.
The current Free candidate does not transmit captured conversation content, page titles, source URLs, Checkpoint notes, or continuation files to Mycelgrid servers or third parties.
You control any later sharing. If you upload, email, paste, synchronize, or otherwise provide a downloaded file to another person or service, that action is governed by your choice and by the receiving service’s terms and privacy practices.
ChatGPT itself remains a separate service operated by OpenAI. This policy describes Mycelgrid Chat Checkpoint and does not replace OpenAI’s policies for ChatGPT.
Why Chrome access is needed.
storagePreserves capture progress, verification status, and the latest capture locally for review, download, and resumable capture behavior.
sidePanelDisplays the user-operated capture, review, Checkpoint, continuation, and download interface in Chrome’s side panel.
https://chatgpt.com/*Allows the extension to read the active ChatGPT conversation after you start capture and coordinate page movement needed to collect available conversation content.
The extension does not request permissions for all websites. It does not use remotely hosted executable code.
Keep sensitive work under deliberate control.
Local-first processing reduces unnecessary transmission, but downloaded files can contain the same sensitive information present in the conversation. Review files before sharing them, protect them using the security appropriate for their contents, and avoid including private work in support requests.
- Review capture counts and status before relying on an export.
- Save files only to locations you trust.
- Delete retained capture progress or downloaded files when no longer needed.
- Redact conversation details from screenshots and diagnostic evidence.
- Do not treat Chat Checkpoint as a backup of your ChatGPT account or provider-side data.
Policy updates follow product changes.
We may update this policy when Chat Checkpoint’s behavior, permissions, data practices, or legal obligations change. The effective date at the top of this page will identify the current published version.
A future feature that sends or synchronizes information would require an updated disclosure and policy before that behavior is offered. This page does not grant permission for future collection.
Questions about privacy or your local data?
