What Chat Checkpoint is
Chat Checkpoint is a Chrome extension candidate for preserving and continuing important work from supported ChatGPT conversations. The current implementation captures conversation content through the ChatGPT page, stores capture state locally in the extension, lets you review numbered assistant Responses, and creates local downloadable packages. It is not an AI assistant, a hosted backup service, or an automatic conversation sender.
A useful mental model
Capture preserves the conversation evidence. Review chooses which assistant Responses matter for a smaller package. Checkpoint packages selected work. Prepare for New Chat adds a continuation prompt for a user-controlled handoff. Workspace is the separate place to turn preserved evidence into editable working Documents.
