Frequently asked questions
Does this render Markdown as HTML?
No. The tool keeps Markdown as plain text. This avoids executing or injecting pasted HTML and makes the output directly inspectable.
Are fenced code blocks changed?
The cleaner detects lines beginning with triple backticks or triple tildes and protects the lines inside those fenced blocks from spacing and structure cleanup.
Will it rewrite my content?
No. It applies only the selected rule-based formatting changes. It does not paraphrase, summarize, or correct grammar.
Why is removing empty list items optional?
An empty list item may be accidental, but it can also be a deliberate placeholder. The option remains off by default so the tool does not silently remove intentional structure.
Is my Markdown uploaded?
No. This tool processes the entered Markdown in the browser and does not upload it to Mycelgrid for processing.
Method and limitations
The cleaner normalizes line endings, identifies fenced code regions, and applies selected rules only outside those regions. It can trim trailing spaces, reduce long runs of blank lines, normalize ATX heading spacing, standardize unordered-list markers, normalize horizontal rules, and optionally remove empty list items.
The tool does not fully parse every Markdown dialect. Indented code blocks, custom directives, tables, embedded HTML, and application-specific syntax may use whitespace intentionally. Review preservation-sensitive documents before replacing the original source.
The original pasted Markdown remains in the input surface until you clear or replace it.
